Rita Singh works on core algorithmic aspects of computer voice recognition, and artificial intelligence applied to voice forensics. Her focus is on the development of technology for the automated discovery, measurement, representation, and learning of the information encoded in voice signal for optimal voice intelligence. Speech, a highly ordered manifestation of the human voice, is also shaped and influenced by the external environment. Understanding general audio, its interplay with human voice and its contextual significance, is a vital part of her research. The final goal of her work is to enable computing machines to not only recognize the content of human speech better in general, but also to understand and respond to humans by gauging their persona, their intent, and their status vis-a-vis their environment from their voice alone, with an acuity that surpasses that of the human brain. This part of her research represents an intersection of the areas of AI and voice forensics. She continues to work toward making voice intelligence algorithms work much better than currently possible in high-noise and other kinds of complex environments, using minimal external (human-generated) knowledge. On the periphery, she works on the general quest for more automation, powerful search strategies, and more scalable learning algorithms for voice intelligence systems.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Directed the operation of 6-10 dealerships simultaneously under The Dealer Development Group, Inc., program. The program resulted in the graduation of many dealer/operators who dramatically increased the sale of Toyota products. The program was highly successful with the majority of the dealers under the program becoming recipients of numerous awards.
  • Responsible for the positive financial reversal of several dealerships to include JM Pontiac-GMC Truck, the world’s largest Pontiac dealership.
  • Successfully negotiated and closed all buy/sells to include the acquisition of assets and real estate.
  • Structured deals that were well capitalized and with reasonable buy/out prospects.
  • Started a minority dealer development program and placed minority dealers within an environment that fostered success. This program resulted in minorities increasing their equity position in Toyota dealerships.
  • Created multiple revenue streams and centralized decision making, delivering a dealer development program that achieved and maintained financial integrity.

His eye for business and opportunity is displayed by the creativeness and resourcefulness to focus on increasing sales, reducing costs and streamlining operations with profitability as the focus. Rewards for shareholders exceeded expectations and exits have included going public with him as chairman of the board and CEO. Dennis was also named a Semi-Finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 1996.
